Degiro Review
Degiro is a Dutch discount broker created in 2012 by a group of ex emploees of one of the biggest online-brokers og Netherlands. It is controled by AFM — a Dutch financial organization. Degiro is not quotated on any stock market and doesn’t have any experiense in a banking sector.
Regulation and investor protection
Degiro is regulated by DNB (Dutch Central Bank) and Nethrlands Financial Markets Authority (AFM). Oversight institurions in other countries, where this broker works, also get reports from it. For example, in the United Kingdom Degiro is registered in FCA (Financial Conduct Authority).
Account opening
This process is easy and fast. It will take about 3 days to open an account. In order to do that, you will need:
- a copy of your ID;
- bank account number.
Also, to create account in this company, your bank account should be registered in one of these countries:
- The countries of the European Union, except of Malta, Romania, Cyprus, Bulgaria, Lithuania, Latvia, Estonia, Croatia;
- Norway;
- Switzerland;

Degiro gives an opportunity to work with a wide range of trading instruments:

- stocks (32 stock markets all around the world are available);
- fonds (581 variants, including Vanguard and BlackRock);
- CFDs (898 variants on 17 markets);
- options (on 13 markets);
- futures (on 12 markets);
- cryptocurrencies (Bitcoin and Ether);
- bonds (946 corporative and 56 state);
- certificates (3521 variant on Euronext Amsterdam and Euronext Paris markets);
- warrants (the choice depends on the place of living).
Types of accounts
There are 5 different variants:
- Custody;
- Basic;
- Active;
- For a trader;
- For a day trader.
They vary in availability of risky services. For example, custody account is the most safe, but also the most limited (it doesn’t allow marginal trading and trading on reduction).
Advantages
The main pluses, thanks to which a lot of traders prefer Degiro, are:
- It offers favourable commissions.
- This broker has a wide coverage of markets, and gives an access to important world and European financial stocks.
- Web-interface and a mobile platform are user friendly and easy to work with.
Disadvantages
There are some minuses:
- The only method of input and output of funds is a bank transfer.
- Technical instruments for trading and investment activity are represented by interactive graphic.
